When I was 10 Jane Fonda’s workout tape was all the rage and I had it. I was a skinny and athletic kid and my dad saw me doing these exercises to the tape and said, hold on a second…you dont think you’re fat do you? I said, no I’m just exercising (I really didnt think I was fat). He said, good, because you’re not - it is important to exercise and be healthy but it is just as important to be realistic about whether or not you are fat. I always remembered that.

We need more dads and men who encourage this kind of thinking in girls and women.
